Pioneer House Restaurant

I recently took a trip to Vancouver Island (namely Tofino and Ucluelet) and on my drive from Victoria to Tofino noticed Pioneer House Restaurant on the side of the road, right before Duncan, British Columbia.  Juan and I were starving, so we stopped for breakfast.

Pioneer House is log cabin style, and located right on the Trans Canada Highway at a cute artisan area called Whippletree Junction.  Heading north on the highway, the restaurant is on the right hand side of the road. I have to admit that I was drawn in by the sign outside that offered a full benny menu (I am a sucker for a good Hollandaise sauce), but once inside and saw their specials menu, my decision was made - $5.99 bacon, eggs, toast and hashbrowns (okay, so I also splurged and got a side of Hollandaise to dip).  It did not disappoint.

As simple of a breakfast as this is, it was delicious!!! Everything from the eggs to the sourdough toast tasted fresh and was served piping hot.  And, to top it off they have the most delicious hollandaise that I have ever tasted (I am not exaggerating either).

When visiting this area, I suggest that you make a pit stop to try a house special at Pioneer House.

Tip:  Pioneer House offers a wine flight of 4 tasters for $8.00.  All of the tasters were of local, Vancouver Island wines.  The restaurant is located in the heart of the Island wine valley, so if you find one you like, you are most likely within a short distance of being able to visit the winery and purchase a bottle or two!
